Thousands of School Supplies & Meals Distributed in South Los Angeles
In Partnership with Each One Teach One, The Salvation Army's Siemon Center Served Thousands of Local Families
LOS ANGELES, CA – Just in time for the back to school season, The Salvation Army partnered with Each One Teach One for their annual “Feed LA” supply distribution event. This past Saturday, August 10, The Salvation Army served more than 2,000 people with thousands of backpacks full of school supplies, clothing items, canned food and hot meals. The event took place at The Salvation Army’s Siemon Family Youth & Community Center and ran until 1:00 PM in the afternoon. This annual event serves those in need in the South Los Angeles region, strengthens ties among organizations, and benefits the local community.
The Siemon Family Youth & Community Center serves a community with a severe need for after-school youth development services, especially during the crucial hours when school is out and parents are absent from home. The 36,903 sq. ft. community center located on S. Central Avenue and 76th Place (near Florence Avenue) serves the local community through a multifaceted program that includes a family services component, a licensed daycare center, chapel and the youth center.
