TEN YEARS OF PROM CLOTHING GIVEAWAYS FROM THE SALVATION ARMY PASADENA TABERNACLE
THIS SATURDAY, PUSD AND THE SALVATION ARMY PARTNER TO DISTRIBUTE DRESSES, SUITS
Pasadena, CA. March 24, 2018 – For the 10th year in a row, The Salvation Army and Pasadena Unified School District’s Families in Transition program are partnering to give away prom attire to local students in need. This year, the event will offer suits, ties and shirts in addition to prom dresses.
The dresses, both new and lightly used, will be available to students - accompanied by a parent or guardian - who were pre-registered earlier in the year. Each student will be assigned an appointment for proper fitting. In addition to PUSD students, the prom dress giveaway is offered to students nearby school districts as well.
According to a survey by Yahoo!, teens in the western United States spend on average $625 to go to prom. This high price tag for a single night makes prom a dream deferred to many. For a decade, The Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle has been making dreams come true for hundreds of deserving young people and the prom giveaway has become one of its signature events.
“Year after year, the Prom Attire Giveaway serves young people in need and brings the local community together,” says Captain Terry Masango of the Pasadena Tabernacle. “We’re proud to work with great partners like the Pasadena Unified School District to provide some joy and excitement to these students.”
The 10th Annual Prom Attire Giveaway will run from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with media availability from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. It will take place at The Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle at 960 East Walnut Street, Pasadena, CA 91106. Event questions may be directed to Jhoana Hirasuna at (626) 529-0503.
