Volunteer

Volunteers are vital to the work of The Salvation Army. Your valuable skills and fresh perspective will make a difference for our community. Whether it's helping children with their homework, leading beautification projects, or serving holiday meals to the homeless, you help us in ‘Doing the Most Good’ by helping  those who are truly in need.

Become a Kettle Bell Ringer

We need your help to ring in the Christmas season as a Salvation Army Red Kettle Bell ringer!

The Salvation Army Red Kettle Bell Ringing Program is a tradition which provides you the opportunity to meet the public and support The Salvation Army in a unique way. We need individual volunteers, but also consider bringing your family, your co-workers, friends from school, or members of your church. Man the kettle, ring the familiar bell, and wish shoppers a joyous holiday season.

The Red Kettle Campaign is one of the primary fundraising efforts of The Salvation Army. By volunteering to be a Bell-Ringer you are helping to raise the much needed funds to support The Salvation Army services and programs throughout the year.

Sign up for Real Estate Wednesdays

Originating in Phoenix, AZ, Realtors and Salvation Army National Advisory Board members, JoAnn and Joseph Callaway created Real Estate Wednesdays to solve a major problem. The Salvation Army often has to hire workers to ring bells at our signature Red Kettles due to the fact that volunteers are very hard to find in the middle of the week. The real estate industry in Arizona stepped up, providing more than 1,000 real estate agents, title company officers, lenders, and affiliates to ring bells every Wednesday during the month of December.

Here in Southern California we have a similar problem finding mid-week volunteers. Find out how your firm can be a part of the solution!

Real Estate Wednesdays has three goals:

  1. To be a part of The Salvation Army’s mission of “Doing the Most Good”.
  2. To elevate the public image and perception of the real estate industry as a cooperative and caring group.
  3. To connect and reconnect with clients and the community you serve.

On Saturday, December 17th The Salvation Army Siemon Family Youth Community Center will host its fifth annual Toy N' Joy holiday toy distribution event! Volunteer for your Group

It's easy to get lost in the hectic daily schedule of our lives and it's nice to step out of the office and have a reminder of how we are truly blessed. Whether it's for a few hours during a work day or weekend, volunteering with one's coworkers and friends is a great way to appreciate our jobs and it is a great way to show the community how multifaceted our workplace can be.

To learn more about how your company or organization can get involved, contact Amy Hudson at (562) 264-3826 or Amy.Hudson@usw.salvationarmy.org.
