The Westwood Transitional Village provides residential housing and support services for homeless familiesAlegria, an expansion of Bethesda House, is a residential program for low-income families affected by HIV/AIDS and one of the largest facilities of its kind in the United States.  Sixteen units are reserved for those needing more intensive supportive services and the remaining 28 units are used for transitional housing. A licensed childcare center serves up to 70 children. The program also provides housing and specialized services such as childcare, social and educational activities, counseling, HIV/AIDS education, and life skills and parenting classes. 323-454-4200

The Bell Shelter operates a comprehensive program, which includes emergency shelter, skills acquisition, transitional housing, and substance abuse recovery for 350 homeless men and women.  A mental health program provides on-site assessment and treatment for homeless men and women who are mentally ill or dual diagnosed with mental illnesses and substance abuse.  323-263-1206

The Haven in West Los Angeles serves 2,500 veterans each yearThe Haven is a program that serves 2,500 veterans each year.  It is operated on the campus of the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration complex. Short-term housing is available at the Alpha Center and transitional housing, with a focus on substance abuse recovery is offered at Victory Place. Women veterans live at Naomi House and those who suffer with mental illness live in the board and care facility known as Exodus Lodge.  Since veterans make up approximately one-third of our nation’s homeless population, the Haven is committed to providing them housing and supportive services. 310-478-3711 x48761

The Long Beach Villages at Cabrillo Transitional Living Center provides housing for up to 27 homeless and low-income families.  The Center helps each family with services like counseling, financial planning, job training and placement and daycare. 562-388-7600 

The Nancy Painter House in Glendale provides transitional housing for five homeless families.  The program provides support services like meal planning and budgeting, counseling, job training and job placement to help ease the difficult transition from homelessness to independence. 818-246-5586

In Orange County, the Santa Ana Hospitality House provides emergency shelter to men, women and children.  The shelter has 36 beds for single men, 16 beds for single women and 3 beds for women with children.  The Hospitality House provides clients with meals, an on-site case worker and job placement assistance. 714-542-9576 

The Santa Barbara Hospitality House provides a home for homeless men and women in a 60-bed facility that offers food, shelter, transportation and employment assistance.  The goal of the program is to move men and women from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Dealing with dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance abuse is common for residents of this program. 805-962-6281

Transitional Living Centers provide housing and support to needy familiesThe Santa Fe Springs Transitional Living Center, affectionately known as “TLC” is a 124-bed facility that provides comprehensive services for families in transition.  The target population is families headed by one parent and women escaping domestic violence situations.  562-945-2067

The Ventura Transitional Living Center offers transitional housing and supportive services for 41 homeless single women and families.  Residents are supported by the staff in moving toward economic self-sufficiency, job placement and permanent housing. 805-648-4977

The Westwood Transitional Village provides residential housing and support services for homeless families including veteran’s and their families,  Families can spend up to two years at Westwood Transitional Village while they stabilize and acquire the skills they need for independent living.  The Bessie Pregerson Childcare Center provides licensed childcare on site. 310-477-9539

The Whittier Hospitality House offers emergency shelter and supportive services for up to 17 homeless men and women and one homeless family. Services provided to clients in the program include daily case management, meals, crisis intervention, vocational counseling and job referrals, computer classes and substance abuse counseling.           562-698-8348
