ImageKnown in its Pico-Union neighborhood as an “oasis for youth” the Los Angeles Red Shield serves a membership of 4,000 children and their parents.  The primary focus at Red Shield is to encourage kids to stay in school and build skills for the future.  Children participate in tutoring, soccer, basketball, baseball, karate, ballet, scouting, and arts programs.  An all-day On Track program is also offered for students on a break from year-round school Shield Youth Center. 1532 W. 11th St. Los Angeles, CA 90015. The South Central Youth & Community Center - in collaboration with the Weingart Foundation - is an academic, recreational and enrichment program on site in seven South Central neighborhood schools.  Supported by a Mobile Learning and Computer Lab, students receive homework help, tutoring and skills development programs. 7651 S. Runaway and homeless youth are served by The Way In Youth Center in Hollywood.  The Way In offers a drop-in center and outreach program, as well as a 20-bed shelter. The Weingart Red Shield Youth Center is located in a campus setting near the Hollywood Corps, The Way In and Silvercrest Residence.
